AIBAK (Pajhwok): A five-member armed group has surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Governor Maulvi Abdul Rahman Kunduzi said the five men previously fought against IEA forces in the Qafqalani area of Hazrat Sultan district. They have finally surrendered to the IEA.

“We want other armed people, who have been deceived and left their places and families, to return and take full advantage of the amnesty announced by the Taliban’s supreme leader. They should not let the enemy use them for fanning differences in society,” he told a gathering at the police headquarters.

Police chief Qari Ahmadullah Badri said some individuals, who were duped into going to mountains, had returned and joined the IEA.

“This group was present in the Qafqlani area of Hazrat Sultan district and it has surrendered three Kalashnikovs, one pistol and some ammunition to the IEA.”
