Nimroz: Over 500 criminal cases registered in past 6 months

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): The residents of southwestern Nimroz province have demanded the eradication of crimes in the province as police talk about registering over 500 criminal cases in the past six months.

Nargis Darwishi, a resident of Masomabad village in Zaranj city, told Pajhwok Afghan News that after the fall of the previous government in August, 2021, criminal cases decreased and people were happy back then, but lately criminal cases surged again.

She called the increase in criminal cases alarming and added: "Three days ago, my husband was returning home from work when he was stopped by the robbers and they took his mobile phone, money, watch and beaten him.”

She said: "Last week, our neighbor house was looted by armed robbers.”

She says: "Most of those who commit crimes in Nimroz come from other provinces, or cross the border from Iran, they are unemployed, and have no option but to steal, kidnapping, murder, involved in drug trafficking, or human trafficking in order to earn livelihood.”

Darwishi asked the officials to prevent crimes. Because people are tired of this situations.

Abdul Haq Narwyee, a resident of Karkaran village in Zaranj city, has a similar complaint and said: "Unfortunately, criminal incidents have increased in Nimroz province, the security situation in Nimroz has worsened compared to last year; robberies in Zaranj city are increasing day by day. »

He, who himself is a shopkeeper, said: "Last week it was around 10:00pm at night, I was going home from the market by car, when in the middle of the road, two motorcyclists stopped me but I survived the incident.”

He asked the security forces to prevent these kinds of incidents and establish social justice so that people could go and perform their daily activities.

Bahram Haqmal, police’s spokesman, told Pajhwok that in the first six months of the ongoing year about 550 criminal cases were registered and referred to judicial organs.

He said that most of the recorded cases were crimes such as theft, murder, human trafficking and drug trafficking.

According to the aforementioned information, in the last six months of the year 1400, more than 315 criminal cases in this province had been introduced to the justice and judicial departments.

Regarding the concern of Nimroz residents, Haqmal said that the Nimroz Police Headquarters is trying to identify arrest and bring the criminals deal with them according to the law.
