PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least 720 local education classes have been set up for children in northern Baghlan province by UNICEF and ACTED organizations.
Mullah Lal Mohammad Farooqi, an official of the provincial Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that UNICEF and ACTED had set up 720 community-based classes in the provincial capital and five districts.
He said ACTED will run 620 classes and UNICEF will run 100 classes for students who had been deprived of education.
Talab Shinwari, ACTED director in the province, said their organization had set up 100 local classes for boys and girls in four districts of the province.
He said boys and girls below 15 years of age would receive education for two years in these classes.
Gul Alam, a resident of Saqi village, expressed happiness over the creation of the local classes.
