JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Security forces in eastern Nangarhar province have arrested 14 alleged criminals, including two women, in the past week, an official said on Tuesday.
The alleged detainees had been arrested in connection to the murder, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.
Police Spokesperson Haji Raees Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces have arrested 14 alleged criminals in the past ten days in connection to murder, armed robberies, and drug trafficking incidents.
Zabuli said one of the suspected women — Maryam — is accused of killing her husband with the assistance of another girl.
Maryam told Pajhwok: “Maria is my friend from the past 11 years, we bought some poison from the drugstore but it didn’t kill my husband. So we sent my father-in-law to the city for shopping and stabbed my husband to death in the room”.
Zabuli added that five of the arrested ones are charged for selling drugs, and security forces recovered 1,700 tablets K, 320 grams of meth and some hashish.
Among the arrested criminals, six were accused of armed robberies.
Farhad, charged for armed robbery said: “We rented a taxi from Jalalabad city to Khalis colony and took the drivers mobile set, money and his car, we got arrested after a while”.
The residents of Jalalabad want the security tightened because such incidents create problems for the people.
