KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Poppy and cannabis plant grown on hundreds of acres of land has been destroyed in various districts of southern Kandahar province, a campaign still ongoing.
Kandahar Governor House spokesman Haji Zaid told Pajhwok Afghan News the poppy eradication campaign was ongoing over the past two weeks in Dand, Panjwai, Zheri, Maiwand, Arghandad and other districts and so far the banned plants were eradicated on 350 acres of land.
He said some farmers opted to grow the illicit plants despite the ban and a campaign to destroy them was ongoing.
