KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Spin Zar state factory in northern Kunduz province has resumed purchasing, processing cotton and producing oil from cottonseed after 20 years
Farmers, who brought their produce to the Spin Zar state enterprise for sale, expressed their happiness for the development and urged expansion of the process.
Naeed Farkhari, operational manager of Spin Zar factory, said they had been able to resume the purchase process of cotton after 20 years.
According to him, the processed cotton will be exported abroad and oil will be produced from its seed to meet domestic need.
“After 20 years, this is the first time that Spin Zar company has resumed its activities in the field of buying cotton.”
Naeed said several sections of the factory such as producing ice, oil, cotton processing, making paper towels and soap, had been activated so far and efforts were underway to activate other parts as well.
Taj Mohammad, one of the farmers, said: “For several years, we were hoping that the company restarts operations. We are happy that our cotton is purchased at good price.”
