Can’t achieve huge goals without capacity building: Hanafi

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Deputy Prime Minister’s office says an information and training seminar for Ministry of Urban Development and Lands (MoUDL) employees will be fruitful and effective.

The seminar for the second units of the MoUDL commenced on Saturday and will continue for six days.

At least 100 employees of the departments of urban development of provinces are participating in the seminar and its goals are consensus, supervision, control, better leadership and information, strengthening of the second units with center, familiarization with laws and policies.

Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi said it was impossible to achieve huge goals and obtain favorable results without improving the capacity of the government departments.

He added: “The development of cities and taking into account national and international standards, creating a favorable urban system to achieve public welfare, construction of cities and towns, observing Islamic culture and environmental standards are among the duties of the Ministry of Urban Development and Lands."

According to him, during the past one year, the ministry achieved great goals and took practical steps to achieve other goals. He said achieving great goals required long-term plans and a lot of time.
