GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The process to distribute uniform to 2000 police personnel has been launched in southern Ghazni province.
Deputy police chief Maulvi Nasratullah Khadem told Pajhwok Afghan News that uniforms were being distributed to 2,000 police personnel. He said police had been directed to wear uniform during duty hours.
Initially the uniforms would be distributed to 2,000 police personnel and others wound receive the special uniform in future, he said.
He hoped public liaison with police would improve and crimes significantly decrease.
A policeman, Mohammad Amin, a resident of Ghazni, told Pajhwok that he was glad to wear the special uniform and perform his duty.
Local residents are also pleased with the development because they could not differentiate between security personal and common people.
Haji Dor Mohammad, a resident of Ghazni, told Pajhwok it was a good step that police were being equipped with uniform, but added it was essential to train police to behave professionally.
