KABUL (Pajhwok): The Under-17 national soccer squad has trounced Mongolia 5-0 in their Asian Cup qualifier, the Afghanistan Football Federation said on Saturday.
Afghanistan thrashed the opposition comprehensively in the match that was played in Tajikistan on Friday evening,the federation said.
Hakeem Khan Niazi, the player scored three goals in the first half in the 22nd, 33rd and 39th minutes of the one-sided game.
Afghanistan maintained their supremacy in the second half as well, with Ali Ramzani and Ali Raza Rahimi scoring a goal each in the 74th and 89th minutes respectively.
On Sunday, Afghanistan will take on the host country in a match that will determine its place in Group H.
The qualification round, which got under way in Tajikistan on October 4, willconclude on Sunday.
