PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Public Health Department officials in northern Baghlan province say they torched three tons of expired medicines and other items confiscated during the past one year.
Baghlan public health director Dr. Massoud Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News they collected more than three tons of expired medicines and other items from pharmacies and stores in Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, during the last two quarters of last year and first two quarters of the ongoing solar year.
He said the items were set afire today in the presence of officials from the provincial administration, intelligence and others.
Also present on the occasion was Baghlan intelligence chief Mualvi Safiullah Mazhari, who told Pajhwok that no one had the right to sell expired medicines and other things to people.
He said anyone found selling expired goods would be dealt with legally.
