KABUL (Pajhwok): The sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) began in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
According to Spokesperson of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Aibek Smadiyarov, the summit will welcome 11 presidents from Azerbaijan, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
Nearly 50 delegations from member states, observer states, observer organizations, partner organizations, and guests of the chairmanship are expected to attend, according to a report in the Astana times.
Established in 1992, it focuses on promoting peace, security and socio-economic development in the Asian continent.
CICA offers an invaluable platform for advancing the objectives of regional stability and prosperity through dialogue and win-win cooperation.
It promotes confidence building measures under five broad domains: economic dimension, environmental dimension, human dimension, new challenges and threats, and military-political dimension
