UN chief again urges Kabul to reopen girls’ schools

ATLANTIA (Pajhwok): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has once again expressed his concern over the continued closure of girls’ schools in Afghanistan.

On International Day of Girls, Guterres tweeted: “I’m extremely concerned by the continued exclusion of girls from school in Afghanistan.”

He said it was deeply damaging to girls themselves and to a country that desperately needed their energy and contribution.

The UN chief once again urged the caretaker government to let girls learn and return to school at the earliest.
