QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): More than 3,000 families received food, non-food and cash assistance from the Red Crescent Society during last six months in western Badghis province, an official said.
Abdul Basir Rahmani, head of the Red Crescent Society, told a gathering marking the society’s special week that they had launched a program to collect aid for children with a hole in the heart and families who suffered from natural disasters.
According to him, in this program, businessmen, officials and employees of government offices are invited to cooperate to help the needy.
“We have distributed food, non-food and cash aid to 3,118 families in last six months and last year we registered 12 children suffering from atrial septal defect for treatment.”
Rahmani added, in addition to this program, special tickets were sold by their volunteer employees in the city and in markets to help people in need.
