KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says a four-day anti-polio vaccination campaign was launched in 22 provinces of the country on Monday.
MoPH said the polio vaccination drive would cover 194 districts in southern, southeastern, eastern, northern, western and central provinces of the country.
A statement from the ministry said two positive polio cases had been reported during the ongoing year in Paktika and Kunar provinces, compared to four in 2021.
Dr. Qalandar Abidi, acting minister of public health, urged families to ensure the vaccination of their children against the crippling disease.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the two countries where polio is yet to be fully eradicated.
