KABUL (Pajhwok): President Vladimir Putin has clamped martial law on four regions that Russia recently annexed from Ukraine, Al-Jazeera reports.
Putin informed the Russian Security Council on Wednesday about issuing the decree imposing martial law in the former Ukrainian regions.
The Russian leader clamped down direct military control on the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with effect from October 20.
Putin also signed a corresponding decree, which will be immediately sent to the Federation Council for approval. The State Duma has been notified of the decision.
He also ordered measures to strengthen control of the authorities of DPR, LPR, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the news channel.
