FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Local officials in western Ghor province say a ban is imposed on the hunting of wild animals in the province and warn poachers of legal action.
Abdul Wahid Hamas, the governor’s spokesman, quoting a statement from the Environment Protection Authority of the province, said wild animals and rare birds were national assets and their hunting was prohibited and no one was allowed to hunt them.
He added all government institutions had been directed to ensure the order was complied with.
Meanwhile, a number of environmental activists expressed satisfaction with the ban and emphasized on preventing the hunting of wild animals and rare birds.
Zabihullah, an environment expert, said: “Many people brutally hunt such animals, and this action of the government can prevent the extinction of animals and birds and it is a good move.”
