KABUL (Pajhwok): Mirza Mohammad Katawazi was elected as president of the Kabul moneychangers union on Wednesday.
Katawzai replaces Mirafghan Safi who served as the union president for three years and was also a candidate in today’s elections, seeking a second term but failed.
Abdul Rahman Zirak, spokesman of the Sarai Shehzada moneychangers’ union, told Pajhwok Katwazi and Safi had nominated themselves for the slot.
Katawzai won the election by securing 246 votes and Safi bagged 187 votes.
