ATLANTIA (Pajhwok): EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson has said that an inclusive government in Afghanistan is still a basic demand supported by regional countries.
Niklasson made the remarks during his speech to the EU parliament.
The Voice of America quoted Niklasson as saying the regional countries respected and supported calls for an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
He added: “An inclusive government is a basic demand and it has been asked for in different statements and speeches.”
According to him, Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries, Iran and Tajikistan have emphasised on the importance of ethnic and religious communities such as Tajiks, Hazaras and Shiites.
However, the caretaker government has repeatedly asserted its inclusivity. The IEA insists it represents all Afghan tribes and minorities.
