KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Supreme Leader Maulvi Haibatullah Akhundzada has asked religious scholars and officials to keep the nation united and cohesive.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the government’s spokesman, tweeted the supreme leader met elders and religious scholars from Baghlan and Takhar on Wednesday.
Haibatullah Akhundzada said hatred and bias should not be fuelled among Afghans in the name of ethnic, linguistic and other considerations,
He reminded leaders of their responsibility to keep the nation united, according to the IEA spokesman.
The ulema shared information about the current situation and discussed their problems with the supreme leader, Mujahid added.
Akhundzada remarked: “All non-believers have been defeated on the battlefield and would never dare attack the Afghans.
“But their media has become more active than it was in the past, fanning ethnic, linguistic and sectarian tensions among the people in a bid to foment strife and create problems for the nation.”
