IEA, US officials expected to meet in Doha

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok):  Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and top US security officials are expected to meet in Qatar next month.

Taliban representatives are preparing to meet US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan, CIA Deputy Director Cohen and a number of high-ranking delegations in Qatar, Modern Diplomacy reported.

The meeting will be held at the end of November in Doha, where Taliban and US officials will arrive to watch the 2022 Soccer World Cup.

Meantime the re-engagement of US-Taliban may not be welcomed by Al-Qaeda the solemn allies of Taliban, of which leader Sheikh Al-Zawahri was killed by CIA drones.

Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and an important member of the Quetta Shura will attend the meeting.

The two sides would likely discuss the removal of the names of some Taliban leaders from the international blacklist, the report suggested.

They will also confer on the transfer of the American embassy to Afghanistan, the establishment of an inclusive government, reopening of girls’ schools and an end to poppy cultivation.
