KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says South Korea donated five million dollars to support Afghanistan’s teachers and Denmark contributed five million dollars to establish more community-based learning spaces (CBEs).

“With support from our donors, @UNICEFAfg is expanding community-based learning spaces (CBEs) for the most vulnerable boys and girls. We are grateful for DanishMFA for US$ 5M contribution to establish 600 new CBEs and support 275 existing ones,” the agency tweeted.

UNICEF also thanked South Korea for contributing five million dollars to support Afghan teachers.

In a tweet, UNICEF said: “When teachers are appropriately supported, children thrive. Thanks to @MOFAkr_eng for donating $5 million, which will enable  @UNICEFAFg to improve children’s learning outcomes through better-prepared & supported teachers in Afghanistan”.

South Korea has provided assistance through UNICEF at a time when Afghan teachers are complaining about their low wages and bad economic situation.

Community-based learning spaces have been established for boys and girls who lack access to schools in different provinces of the country.
