PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan plans to fast-track the clearance of coal imports from neighbouring Afghanistan, officials say.
The Express Tribune reported Pakistan is taking steps to facilitate its neighbour and all departments have been directed to ensure facilitation.
Having put in place fast-track clearance for perishable commodities, the Pakistan government has directed state institutions to facilitate trade with Afghanistan.
Sources in the Pakistan embassy in Kabul told the newspaper: “We issue 2,800 visas on a daily basis to Afghans, including 700 medical and 1,000 business visas …”
From July to October this year, the unnamed sources said, the trade volume of trade between the neighbours rose to $600 million.
By the end of the current financial year, the report said, the total bilateral trade would account for one billion dollars.
