TALOQAN (Pajhwok): A three day campaign to distribute nutrients among malnourished children in northern Takhan province has kicked off, an official said on Saturday.
according to officials the campaign will continue for three days in 520 health posts, in which 350 thousand children will benefit from these substances in order to prevent malnutrition.
Public Health Director Dr. Abdul Qahar Ahmadi during the distribution of nutrients told Pajhwok Afghan News due to poverty and financial crisis the number of malnourished children was on the raise in Takhar.
He said in order to control the growing malnutrition, the Public Health Department in coordination with the BDN and with the financial support of UNICEF launched this drive.
He said this drive will continue for three days in which 350,000 students would be benefited.
BDN Head Abdul Wasai Jawad said the use of nutrients would help improve children immunity system against different types of diseases. These powder, he said were rich in vitamins and were useful for children up to 59 month old.
Abdul Ghayas, the resident of Taloqan, said poverty, economic hardship, lack of drinking water resulted into malnutrition among children.
He demanded officials to address their problems.
