Fazal Haq Frooqi’s family members detained in Karachi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan cricketer FazalHaqFarooqi’s family members have been arrested by police in Karachi, the capital of Pakistan’s Sindh province, Farooqi’s brother said on Sunday.

Ten days ago Farooqi’s family members disappeared after entering Pakistan via Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing.

After the incident, Farooqi took to his Facebook account and wrote: “My uncle and other family members have gone, if somebody knows about it, please let us know.”

Attaur Raman Farooqi, the brother of FazalHaqFarooqi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that his family members were detained in Pakistan’s Karachi City.  The detainees included his uncle, sister, and three nieces.

“They recently came to Baghlan to see us, then left for their home in Pakistan but they disappeared after crossing Chaman and now we know they have been detained,” he said.

Afghan and Pakistani government officials have not so far spoken about the incident.
