KABUL (Pajhwok): The beggars collection committee on Sunday announced collecting 14,393 beggars in the past three months in Kabul.
Of the total14,393 beggars, 56 are children with no guardians, 5,618 poor people and 8,719 are professional beggars.
The beggars’ collection process that began on August 13 is still ongoing in Kabul city. Male beggars capable of work will be hired for jobs, the committee said.
The deputy prime minister for economic affairs office wrote on its twitter that among the beggars collected, 9,154 were women and after an evaluation, it was revealed that 3,386 of them were deserving and 5,768 were professional beggars.
All minor beggars will be sent to orphanages and they will receive education, accommodation and food, the office said.
The Prime Minister’s deputy economic office had earlier said that every member of the beggar’s family would be provided with 2,000 afghanis per month.
