MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock department in northern Faryab province has distributed nearly 2,000 metric tons of refined wheat seed and chemical fertilizer among farmers.
Mualvi Izzatullah Noorani, director of agriculture, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 910 metric tons of improved quality wheat seed and 910 tons of urea were distributed to farmers.
Eng. Ghulam Farooq, an official of the agriculture department, told Pajhwok the Norwegian Committee in coordination with the Agriculture Department distributed the agriculture inputs.
Farmers who received the assistance thanked the government and the Norwegian Committee.
Atiqullah, one of the farmers, said drought had affected their crops.
Hussamuddin, another farmer in Maimana City, criticized the way farmers were surveyed and seed and fertilizers distributed, saying people who had no land also were also given the assistance.
