Some unneeded departments dissolved, says minister

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some unneeded departments have been dissolved and their employees appointed in other departments, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Maulvi Abdul Salam Sadat said on Sunday.

Sadat told reporters here that a complex for the treatment of drug addicts having the capacity of 5,000 addicts was being established in Kabul

He said new recruitments had been made from mujahideen and other people in the ministry and they would be provided necessary training in line with the relevant laws and principles of the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA)’.

He added similar trainings would be provided in Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul, Faryab, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan provinces to more than 1,537 newly recruited employees.

According to Sadat, some unnecessary government institutions such as the High Council for National Reconciliation have been dissolved and their employees appointed to other institutions.

“IEA has dissolved unnecessary institutions not those hat are needed,” he said.

Referring to the drug addicts’ treatment scheme, he said a new complex would be opened for the treatment of drug addicts in Pul-i-Charkhi area of Kabul. The facility, he said, would have the capacity to treat over 5,000 addicts.

He did not provide more details about the complex, but according to reports the facility is under construction which will have the capacity to treat over 5,000 drug addicts at one time.

The minister said up to 15,838 beggars had been rounded up till November 5 from different areas of capital Kabul. they included 9,595 women and after evaluation process it was found that 3,642 were deserving while 5,953 were undeserving addicts.
