AIBAK/FARAH (Pajhwok): Officials say 1,386 needy families and farmers were distributed food, improved quality wheat seed and chemical fertilizers in Samangan province and 31 families were given cash in Farah province.
Samangan Natural Disaster Management Authority head Wali Mohammad Stanikzai said the items had been provided by the ministry concerned.
He said 550 poor families were distributed five types of food items including rice, wheat, biscuits, jam and confections.
He said 836 farmers were given away improved quality wheat seed, chemical fertilizer and gardening tools in Aibak and Hazrat Sultan district.
Samangan Agriculture and Livestock department official Mohammad Aman Hanafi said the total value of the improved wheat seeds, chemical fertilizers and household garden tools was 1.8 million afghanis provided by the Afghanaid, a British humanitarian and development organisation supporting rural communities in Afghanistan.
In Farah province, 31 families were given cash assistance whose houses were damaged or destroyed in previous wars in Bala Buluk district.
The provincial Information and Culture Department in a statement said the aid was provided by the ‘Afghan Business’ organization and each family received 32,450 afghanis cash.
