KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 15,000 families have been distributed food, cash and garments in Uruzgan, Laghman, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces, according to officials on Sunday.
Mawlavi Mohammad Qasim Furqani, the assistant administrative chief of Chori district in Uruzgan province, said 3862 families have been distributed food items by the World Food Programme (WFP).
He said these less fortunate families were identified through a survey and today (Sunday) the WFP provided them with food.
Each food package included 50 kilograms of flour, seven kilogram of bean, five litre of cooking oil and five kilograms of children food.
In Laghman, 941 livestock owners were distributed with cotton cake. Each farmer was provided with 200 kilograms of cotton cake for their livestock.
In Logar, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) distributed cash aid to flood affected families in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar province.
Elsewhere, the WFP provided food items to 8,396 to vulnerable families in the Hisa-i-Awal and Hisa-i- Doem districts of Maidan Wardak province.
