KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Information and Culture has tasked a delegation with addressing challenges media outlets face in consultation with media officials.
Mufti Abdul Matin Qani, policy adviser and spokesman of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said on Sunday that the ministry was committed to freedom of media keeping in view Islamic values and national interests of the country.
“So the ministry has formed a delegation comprising representatives of the ministry and journalists and media federations, which has already conducted meetings for three weeks under the supervision of the ministry with the officials of print, electronic, news agencies and cable media”, Qani added.
“The purpose of this delegation is to establish a relationship with the media, to hear its challenges and to solve them. We met with all media and press officials, God willing, the board will consider the problems and cooperate with the leadership of the ministry”.
Qani said the Ministry of Information and Culture was an open window for the country’s media and journalists and was committed to ensuring their rights and freedom of expression, considering the country’s supreme interests.
About the problems media outlets are struggling with, he said: “They will be solved and we will try to ensure that the right to access to information is not disturbed and that press and publishing services are provided to the nation with national and international standards”.
