LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Tribal elder Haji Adam Khan Popalzai has been found dead in the capital of southern Helmand province, days after going missing.
Qudratullah, a nephew of the slain elder, told Pajhwok Afghan News that his uncle disappeared along with his car last week and his body was found in Chehel-Metra area of Lashkargah city on Monday.
He did not provide more details about the incident.
But a resident of the area, who declined to be named, told Pajhwok that the bullet-riddled body of Popalzai was recovered from a well.
Mualvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, deputy head of information and culture department, said he was unaware of the incident.
Adam Khan Poplazai, who hailed from Nawa district, was a prominent elder.
