Intra-Afghan talks meaningful, logical way to resolve issues

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some politicians and experts have stressed over dialogue among Afghans to resolve differences and incumbent acting Afghan government also believed that strengthening relations, understanding among Afghans was vital for stability in the country.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan, recently said that unconditional dialogue among different Afghan sides was the only legitimate and logical way to end instability, insecurity and foreign interference in Afghanistan.

He said the purpose of the dialogue should not be power sharing but the creation of a powerful body that could represent national unity and could decide regarding the most important national issues.

He said such body should take decisions regarding the new constitution, political structure and internal and foreign policies.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and US Special Representative for Afghanistan Tomas West also stressed over intra-Afghan talks for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan Peace and Justice Movement which recently announced its existence also stressed over national dialogue for the creation of an intra-Afghan talks.

Ziaul Haq Amarkhel, head of the Subat Association said the people of Afghanistan rendered sacrifices from over the past 43 years, they were tired of fighting, suffered migration and other problems due to the conflict.

“We don’t believe in war, the only way to durable peace in the country is talks, co-existence, patience, tolerance and working for the country all together. We don’t want to go back to the past,” he said.

Amarkhel said, had the Taliban, Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan invited to the Bonn Conference democracy would have not fallen now, the Taliban then were not given importance or the discussion was that they should have been eradicated, but we saw that after 20 years democracy eradicated.

Political Expert Najibullah Jami said besides the interference of foreigners in Afghanistan’s internal matters politicians inside Afghanistan were involved in fierce clashes on power.

He added: “Now, it was the responsibility of every politician to get Afghanistan out of the conspiracies of foreigners and foreign intelligence agencies by adopting to bold decision and national reconciliatory policies.”

“He said Afghan government supported national dialogue through which power is shifted to the masses and all political forces should earn their legitimacy on the bases of the will of the people of Afghanistan,” he said.

Islamic Emirate Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said: “The subject is that talks between Afghan sides will take us to stability, the Islamic Emirate worked in this regard and will continue to work.”

At different levels the Islamic Emirate officials are in talks with the people they hold regular meetings with the masses, hear from them and discuss social issues.

“Individuals who failed here and rejected by the masses are no more acceptable for the people, if we facilitate these individuals people will start hating us too,” he said.
