NELLI (Pajhwok): A woman in Nelli, the capital of central Daikundi province, has served her 18 years in the education and training of girls saying her only purpose was to serve society and specially girls.

Mahboba Naiab, is one of few women who made commitment to serve society and told Pajhwok Afghan News she was really interested that the girls she was training would be able to carry on her role in the future.

She said every morning she prepared with interest and enthusiasm to go to school where a number of girls were waiting for her and this further increased her interest in this field.

She said over the years she strived and work hard with the girls and many received her training and education.

She recalled the times when she thought girls in part time and said: “When I was teacher, I thought some students part time and on holiday without any fee charge in order to improve the skills and education.”

From the past 10 years, she served as the deputy head of Chahardar Dasht Girls High School, one of the famous schools in Daikundi and said during her journey she faced a number of issues but she was still happy that she struggled for the purpose she desired for.

“Our students have developed a lot, there are doctors, engineers and work in different professional fields, they get higher marks in Kankor test and other places,” she said.

She said her plan for the development of girls school was still underway and wanted to produce more female teachers.

Naiab said she shared he plans and strategies for the capacity building of teachers with the Education Department and provide workshops, training and other programmes.

She currently saw the lack of teachers as one of the challenged faced at the school she is running and said 550 students were imparted education by eight teachers only.

Sughra Ahmadi, one of the past students of Naiab, said she studied science subjects from her teacher — Naiab — adding that she worked hard for the development of students.

“She worked hard with us, therefore I got first postion in Kankor and became a doctor, now I can serve the people,” she said.
