KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 9,000 needy families received food items in Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces and 500 farmers were distributed improved quality wheat seed and chemical fertilizer in Farah province, officials said on Thursday.
In Logar province, the World Food Program (WFP) distributed food items to 3,350 needy families in Baraki Barak, Kharwar, and Khoshi district, said Sibghatullah Naibkhel, the Rural Rehabilitation and Development department spokesman.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News that each family was given 100kg of flour, 10kg of cooking oil, six kg of salt and children's food.
In Maidan Wardak province, 5,777 deserving families received food aid in Chak district from WFP, the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department said in a statement.
It said each family received 50 kilograms of flour, five liters of ghee, 6.25 kilograms of pulses and 0.5 kilogram of salt.
Meanwhile, 500 farmers were provided with improved quality wheat seeds and chemical fertilizer in western Farah province.
Maulvi Abdul Momin Faisal, director of agriculture and livestock department, said they supervised the aid distribution. Each farmer was given 75kg of wheat seed, 50kg of black urea and the same quantity of white urea.
