KABUL (Pajhwok): Without specifying the time, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says 3.4 million people are displaced in Afghanistan, more than half of them are women and girls
The refugee agency wrote on its Twitter page that these people were forcibly displaced from their places.
Without giving details, UNHCR expressed concern that displacement exacerbated risks of violence against forcibly displaced women and girls.
“It’s time to end this human rights violation, now!”
The UNHCR statement comes a day after the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said that Afghanistan has signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and every article of this declaration should be respected.
Afghan government sources have not yet commented about these statements.
