KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN Security Council (UNSC) has conditionally lifted travel ban on Information and Culture Minister Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa for a period of ten days to allow him to attend a cultural event in Russia, an official said on Monday.
Deputy director of broadcasting at the Ministry of Information and Culture, Muhajir Farahi, told Pajhwok that the UNSC had conditionally lifted the travel ban on Khairkhwa for ten days.
Without giving details, Farahi said Khairkhwa had no intention to participate in the Russian cultural meeting.
A few years ago, the UNSC slapped travel bans on some Taliban leaders, but the ban was lifted on 15 leaders for a period of time to allow them to travel for peace talks.
