KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 1,314 traffic accidents occurred in the past nine months inflicting casualties to nearly 3,000 people showing an increase comparing to the last year’s casualties figures, an official said on Friday.
Abdul Wadoud Khairkhwa, plan and policy director of the Central Traffic Department told Pajhwok Afghan News 1,314 traffic accidents had been recorded in the nine months of ongoing solar year while last year 1,497 traffic accidents occurred.
According to facts and figures shared with Pajhwok Afghan News this year 2,962 people have been killed and injured in traffic accidents while last year 2,561 people were killed and injured in traffic accidents.
The source said this year 934 people have been killed while 2,028 others injured this year, while last year 870 people were killed and 1791 others injured in traffic accidents.
Officials linked traffic accidents with deteriorated roads, speedy and reckless driving. They often asked drivers to carefully drive and avoid accidents.
