KABUL (Pajhwok): Construction of houses for 137 displaced people in the capital of eastern Laghman and Alingar district has been launched with the financial support of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Maulvi Ghulam Rehman Bilal, director of refugee department, told Pajhwok Afghanistan that the construction of houses for 137 displaced people in Mehtarlam and Alingar districts has started on Friday with the financial support of the UNHCR.
He added that the cost of building each house was estimated $3,300, which includes two living rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom.
He also said that the cost of building all the houses would cost $452,100 and would take two months to complete.
Shukrullah, a resident of Alingar district, told Pajhwok that they were forced to leave their area during the previous wars.
Amanullah, a resident of Umarziv area of Mehtarlam, also said: “My house was destroyed in the previous rains and now the UNHCR is rebuilding it for me and they are paying the cost.”
