KABUL (Pajhwok): A 20-member council of religious scholars has been formed in northern Faryab province to advice provincial officials about issues referred to the council, an official of the Islamic Emirate said on Thursday.
Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said the Ulema Council was formed in accordance with a decree from supreme leader Mawlawi Hebatullah Akhundzada, for better administration of provincial affairs.
According to Mujahid’s information, Sheikh Hayatullah Halim has been appointed as head of the council, Mufti Mohammad Hassan as his deputy, Mawlawi Khair Mohammad administrative and finance assistant.
Mufti SayedNajibullah, Mawlawi Abdul Naser, MawlawiMakhdomHafizullah, Mawlawi Abdul Qahir, SheikhSayedMubasher, MawlawiFaizullah, MawlawiSayedMaroof, Mufti Zia-ur-RahmanRasikh, Mufti Abdul Wadod, Mawlawi Jan Mohammad, Mawlwi Abdul Qayum, Mufti Abdul Manan, Haji Abdul Aziz, Mawlana Abdul Karim, Mohammad Alem Kohi, Haji Mohammad Arif and Haji Sahib Mohammad Azim have been appointed as members of the council.
The council will offer advices to provincial officials according to its authority and the officials are obliged to act on the advice, Mujahid said.
