After university, girls barred from tuition classes

KABUL (Pajhwok): After being banned from higher education, girls have been prevented from attending tuition classes in Kabul, tutors said on Thursday.

Ali Mohammad, a teacher at Sitara Tuition Center in Koti Sanagi area, said since yesterday girls were not allowed to attend their tuition classes and only boys were allowed.

“Till Saturday girls are barred from attending tuition classes, today officials of tuition centers held a meeting with education officials to determine the fate of girls,” he said.

Najiba, a resident of Dasht-i-Barchi locality, said: “From 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, I attend Toffel class but when yesterday I entered the class, I was told not to come till Saturday until to know the Islamic Emirate allows girls or not.”

Najibullah Najib, a teacher at Kaj Tuition ceter, said “Yesterday Islamic Emirate members stopped girls from attending classes, today we called off the tuition for boys and girls. On Saturday, the Kankor preparation course will resume, but only boys will attend.”

He said the government had announced that till next announcement, girls learning institutes should remain closed.

Bashir Ahmad Rahimi, Coordinator of Muslim Institute, said officials of the municipality came to their institute on Wednesday and said that girls learning had been suspended till further notice.

The matter was shared with officials of the Islamic Emirate but no response was received.
