KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan has exported over 3,000 tonnes of pine nuts in the past eight months, says the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC).
A spokesman for the ministry said 3,000 tonnes of the dried fruit were exported to China. Pine nuts were also sent to regional and European countries, as well as the US.
A private broadcaster quoted MoIC spokesman Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad as saying that pine nut exports would continue until March.
More than 3,000 tonnes of pine nuts were still in the country, according to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI).
ACCI member Khanjan Alokozai, meanwhile, called for the Taliban administration to facilitate pine nut export.
He told TOLOnews they were trying to get connected with different countries via air corridors and provide export facilities for traders.
