KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia and India are ready to help revive ‘intra-Afghan talks’ if the Taliban want so, Moscow’s special representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said on Friday.
He told The Hindu if the caretaker government of Islamic Emirate wanted their assistance, Moscow and New Delhi were ready to help and play their role in reviving ‘intra-Afghan dialogue.’
Kabulov also described the Taliban’s counter-terror measures ‘insufficient’ and stressed regional countries were ready to help the Taliban defeat security threats.
“If the signal of assistance comes from Kabul, Russia is ready to provide necessary assistance in this regard,” the Russian envoy added.
Russia is among the countries that have interaction with the Taliban rulers and has hosted some gatherings about Afghanistan, but is yet to recognize the caretaker government.
Pajhwok Afghan News repeatedly tried to have the comments of the caretaker government about Kabulov’s fresh statement, but did not succeed.
