Uruzgan governor: Officials bound to cooperative with media

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The governor of central Uruzgan province has asked all civil and military institutions to timely share information about their affairs with media outlets.

Governor  Mawlawi Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad said this while addressing a gathering of civil and military officials in his office.

He told the civil and military officials: “All officials, even the officials of judicial organs and intelligence, must share their information about all the developments with media, except some classified information”.

He said it was the leadership’s order and all officials were responsible to implement this order because people needed information on time through media.

The governor also said some media outlets only published negative reports and ignored the developments made by the Islamic Emirate, asking media organizations to report facts.

Local reporters said they were happy with the instructions.

Ihsanullah Wulasmal, a local reporter told Pajhwok Afghan news, some officials were cooperative to share information, but it was their responsibility to share information with media.

However, he said sometimes officials refused to share information with journalists about security and other incidents.

Local journalists in Uruzgan province have many times complained about the lack of access to information which created challenges in them.
