‘Thousands acres of grabbed land identified in Takhar’

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): A Commission tasked to investigate and return grabbed lands in northern Takhan province has identified thousands acres of usurped state land and grassland in the past one month, an official said on Thursday.

Mawlavi Rahimullah Ahadi, head of the usurped land recovery commission, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “It’s been about a month, a commission consisting of 11 departments had been formed to recover the agricultural lands and pastures usurped by grabbers and powerful people. So far, thousands of acres of government agricultural land and pastures have been identified that were usurped by the usurpers and powerful people in this province.”

He added as first step taken by this commission 1,400 acres of grabbed land identified in the Tangi Farkhar area while 150 acres grabbed land identified in in the Shahr-i-Kuhna area, adding that efforts were underway for its recovery.

He said Commission continued its efforts to identify grabbed lands, adding that over 500,000 acres of state land had been grabbed which had been identified by the Commission and efforts for its recovery were underway.

Khal Mohammad, the resident of Takhar, said: “In the past 20 years every powerful individuals grabbed more lands according to his power and authority, now again government officials are identifying lands which is a positive step.”

He stressed identification of grabbed lands in all district should continue and powerful individuals should be stopped from grabbing more lands.

This comes that in the past 20 years, thousands acres of lands had been grabbed by grabbers and now government official striving to identify and reverse these lands.
