KABUL (Pajhwok): Three Iranian universities are willing to provide scholarships to Afghan girls to pursue their higher education, a media report said on Monday.
Earlier, the Ministry of Higher Education barred female students from higher education until further notice and asked all public and private universities to implement the decision with immediate effect.
Wahid Hudaidad Asal, acting higher education minister of Iran, said following the restrictions on Afghan female students, some Iranian universities including Alzahra public university in Tehran, Kausar Bojnord and the Hazrat-e-Masoumeh University in Qum province were ready to accept Afghan female students until the restrictions were lifted.
He said the Alzahra university had the potential to accept 50 students currently and the capacity would be increased.
“Kausar Bojnord, the only university for female students in Khorasan city, is ready to embrace Afghan female students,” he added.
The Hazrat-e-Masoumeh University would provide higher education to 300 students in person and 1,000 online, he added.
