KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): As many as 30,000 acres of grabbed land has been retrieved in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Sunday.
Agriculture Director Mawlavi Amanullah Hassan said a commission tasked to retrieve grabbed lands was able to identify 85,000 acres of grabbed land in which 30,000 had been retrieved.
He added: “In Kunduz 85,000 acres grabbed land had been identified in which 30,000 acres had been taken back. Most of grabbed lands situated in the provincial capital which were grabbed by powerful individuals and officials of the past government.”
Local residents hailed government decision to retake grabbed lands from grabbers and demanded punishment for land grabbers.
Naqibullah, a local resident, said: “The lands that have been usurped in the past years are the property of the people, we ask the officials to take back the usurped lands from the usurpers and deal with them seriously.”
