KABUL (Pajhwok): A 20-member council religious scholars has been established in central Uruzgan province to provide instructions to provincial officials in line with Sharia law.
In a statement, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said the council in Uruzgan province was established in accordance with supreme leader Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada’s order for the enhancement of affairs.
He said influential figures and religious scholars had been appointed as \ members of the body.
According to him, Sheikh Mawlawi Abdul Ghafar has been appointed as director of the council, Mawlawi Hamid Akhundzada as deputy director and Mawlawi Lal Mohammad as a member and administrator.
Mawlawi Abdul Aziz, Mawlawi Mohammad Anwar, Mawlawi Saifuddin, Sheikh Mohammad Nadir, Mawlawi Wali Haq, Mawlawi Ghulam Jan, Mawlawi Asadullah, Mawlawi Miraa Jan, Mawlawi Habibullah, Sheikh Ismatullah, Mawlawi Mohibullah, Mawlawi Bahauddin, Haji Amir Akhundzada, Haji Mohammad Anwar, Haji Khair Mohammad, Shah Mahmood, and Abdul Raziq are members of the council.
Under the decree, Mujahid said the council officials and members had to provide Sharia consultations to provincial officials on various subjects for further improvement of affairs of the province.
They should take full part in implementation of the decree and provincial officials must act upon the advices of the Ulema council, he said.
