JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Sixty-six prisoners, including women and children, were released from the central prison in eastern Nangarhar province during a ceremony here on Thursday.
Sheikh Mohammad Gulab Faroqi, director of the appellant court, said these people were released in compliance with an order from the Ameer-ul-Momineen.
He said the released individuals had committed trivial crimes or pardoned by the rival parties
The decree was implemented by the commission comprising representatives of the appellant court, intelligence and prison authorities.
Maulvi Bilal Shaheen, director of the prison, said 66 people who were released from the prison included five women and 11 children.
Sher Ali, a newly released man, told Pajhwok that he was treated well in the jail and even provided with education.
