KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) has delivered winter aid to 565,700 vulnerable afghan families so far.
On its Twitter handle the UN agency wrote the aid included blankets, heating, shelter repair and cash for rent.
“Humanitarian actors are delivering vital winter support to vulnerable #Afghan families incl blankets, heating, shelter repair & cash for rent. So far, 565,700 people-some 59% of those targeted - have been reached. But much more is needed amid one of the coldest spells in years,” reads a tweet from the UNOCHA.
This comes that less fortunate families have been experiencing hardships and difficulties due to the unprecedented cold weather in the country.
On Saturday, Afghan National Disaster Management Authority announced that over 100 citizens had lost their lives as a result of freezing cold, heavy snowfall and blaze in different parts of the country.
