KABUL (Pajhwok): Special representatives and envoys of Central Asian states and the European Union (EU) have reaffirmed comprehensive support for building a peaceful and resilient Afghanistan.
At a meeting in Brussels at the weekend, the diplomats reviewed regional security challenges in the context of the current situation in Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan’s foreign ministry said the participants underlined the growing role of Central Asian countries in promoting long-term stability in Afghanistan and humanitarian aid to its people.
Cited by Kazinform news agency, the statement said the meeting expressed concern over the worsening situation of women’s right in Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador-at-Large Talgat Kaliyev referred to interaction between his country’s agrarian enterprises and the UN World Food Program.
In the first half of 2022, Kazakhstan delivered 456,000 tonbes of flour to Afghanistan, the diplomat pointed out.
He promised Kazakh universities would continue to actively participating in the EU-funded educational programme for Afghan students in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
He sought support for Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish a UN-led regional centre for sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan to help to enhance the efficiency of global assistance to the Afghans.
